Over the past two decades, Gallery 16 has consistently been one of San Francisco’s most dynamic art spaces, representing artists like Rex Ray, Tucker Nichols, and Amy Franceschini. As the gallery celebrated their 20th Anniversary, we were asked to rebrand the space with a system poised for a future of new work.

The gallery prides itself on being a comfortable, accommodating space, and wanted the identity to steer clear of the typical cold black-and-white wordmarks commonly used in gallery IDs. The system is rooted in a custom typeface that becomes both the logo and the visual language in which the gallery’s voice takes form.
